Where do I begin! Michael was incredible! We did 10 lessons with him for our first dance. His attention to detail was incredible, he explains things so well and makes it easy to learn. He was fun and easy going and would make my husband and I super comfortable! He motivates you and reassure you that you will do great because God knows I was so scared to trip but I did not! Our first dance at our wedding was amazing everyone loved it! It was perfect!
We came to Michael at Z Dance as total beginners—like, really starting from scratch. We weren’t even in sync walking side-by-side and had to start there! But from the very first day, Michael made us feel completely comfortable and capable. He met us right where we were, with so much patience and positivity. We came in with a few song ideas, and Michael walked us through how to find the tempo and understand what kind of dance would suit us best. When we changed songs a few weeks in, he rolled with it effortlessly and reworked the choreography without missing a beat. He never just told us what to do, he explained WHY certain moves worked, asked great questions, and guided us in a way that felt collaborative and supportive, not intimidating. Michael made us feel secure, celebrated and confident. Something that we didn’t expect was how much our dance lessons would become the calm in the middle of all the chaos of daily life and wedding planning. Our sessions with Michael were relaxed, fun, and gave us space to just be together. No stress, no pressure. It became something we truly looked forward to every week, a little moment of peace where we could forget the to-do lists and reconnect. It definitely brought us closer as a couple. Michel truly thinks of everything—asking about the shoes I’d wear, the dress skirt, the outdoor gravel/dirt surface we’d be dancing on, and tailoring the choreography accordingly. He really is a master in every sense. Hannah was also absolutely amazing—super warm, welcoming, and helpful with everything behind the scenes. Between the two of them, we always felt like we were just hanging out with good friends who happened to be dance pros. The studio itself is gorgeous; spacious, gorgeously decorated, clean, and full of people having a genuinely great time. There was zero pressure or pretense, and there was always a lot of laughter and fun going on. It’s been a year since our wedding, and we still talk about going back—maybe for some country dancing this time. Whether you're a total beginner (like we were!) or you're looking to choreograph something more advanced, this is THE place. We’ll never stop recommending them. Michael and Hannah are truly the best people with the best studio.
I’ve been going to Z Dance Studio to practice my west coast swing and it’s been one of my favorite places to go! They offer dance lessons and socials, also free parking and beverages!! I attend classes mostly Mondays and Wednesdays, I just can’t seem to get enough of it!!! Definitely recommend coming and exploring your style of dance with z dance!
