For over three decades, our enduring connection with Troy has been nothing short of profound. This remarkable journey began in the early months of 1992, when Troy was an integral part of the McCoy & Harrison Funeral Home. In those trying times, we turned to Troy for assistance in bidding farewell to our beloved Great Aunt, Ivy Lee. At the tender age of 11, her passing left an indelible mark on my heart. Little did I know that fate would bring us back to Troy that same year, in October 1992, when we faced the heart-wrenching loss of my father, Coach Robert Lee Shaw Sr. That year, 1992, was one filled with unparalleled challenges for our family. Yet, amidst the storms of grief, Troy and his team made those dark days considerably more bearable with their exceptional service for our cherished loved ones. No one ever wishes to frequent a funeral home, but life's inevitable twists led us down a path of saying goodbye to four more beloved family members in the years that followed: Grandma Irene Vaults, Aunt Maurine Vaults Williams, Cousin John Henry Asbery Jr., and Aunt Doris King Vaults. Throughout this journey of grief and loss, Troy remained a steadfast presence by our side. Fast forward, almost a decade, to September 2023, we once again crossed paths with Troy, now leading Troy B. Smith Professional Services Funeral Home. This time, we faced the painful departure of a pillar of our family, our beloved Deacon George U. Vaults. It seemed only fitting that Uncle George would choose Troy to oversee his final farewell, given the dynamic and compassionate services Troy had provided our family in past years. When our family gathered once more for Uncle George, it felt like returning to a familiar haven. The service was every bit as remarkable as we remembered it to be. Troy and his dedicated team displayed unparalleled kindness, care, patience, and love throughout the entire process. During such a vulnerable time, Troy and his staff orchestrated Uncle George's celebration with effortless professionalism and tender care. The service was elegant, spiritually uplifting, and filled with joy as we celebrated Uncle George's life and legacy. In moments of profound loss, having Troy B. Smith and his team by our side has been an unshakable source of comfort and support. Their unwavering commitment to providing exceptional funeral services is truly unparalleled.
