I had been experiencing drastic changes on my right eye in the past few DAYS. I work at a primary care clinic & have always seen patient being referred out to Dr. Cantu. So I thought my best choice was to go to her practice. I was able to get an app the same day. The front staff were very welcoming and the staff in the back were very professional. Once I had finished with all the exams I was waiting to be seen by Dr. Cantu...I had my door somewhat open and I heard a woman arguing on the phone with someone about a patient and when she hung up she proceeded to vent to the medical assistant. The medical assistant kept trying to let her know about her patient in one of the rooms but she kept on bringing up the person on the phone to the MA. Once she walked in the room the first thing she said was "what are we gonna do with you, hello I'm Dr. Cantu without even acknowledging me (she was the woman on the phone). Basically she did a routine vision test for new glasses, disregarding any of my right eye concerns and when I asked a question I felt as if I was being annoying... she proceeded to say that the glasses I was wearing were nearsighted and that I am now farsighted... she wanted me to check my A1c and glucose and that maybe that could be the cause of my blurry vision... she told me to come back after bloodwork and then she would determine if to give me a new eye script! I was left confused and with more questions... I had a second opinion with a new ophthalmologist and the experience was waaaaaaayyyy different. One thing that stood out to me is that Dr. Cantu said it could be my glucose but the other Dr said if it was due to your sugar levels it would effect both eyes not just one. I understand if your getting government help shes a easy go to but if your paying out of pocket I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go somewhere else.
I am honestly super surprised at some of these reviews. My children and I have came here for about 3 years now, and every time we do come, we love it. The check in girl is great, the optometrist that does the eye tests is amazing, and the main optometrist, Dr. Garza, is a dream. Very attentive, he listens to all my concerns, and explains everything to me. It doesn’t hurt that he looks like that celebrity Dermot Mulroney, but that’s just a plus. His demeanor Is great, the location is easy to get to, and I love the selection of frames they carry. I also love the check out girl Maria, she’s super patient, my daughter is extremely indecisive, but didn’t rush us. Definitely...read full review
At first I was pretty satisfied. However, a year later I am being told that I owe the entire amount of the procedures done on both eyes even though I paid the entire amount. If you go to this facility, KEEP ALL OF YOUR RECEIPTS b/c their billing department will try and charge you twice. Fast forward a few months and I'm still receiving a bill for the entire amount although I did pay it. I was assured that the account was all taken care of but apparently someone on that end did not do their job.
