After seeing two "renowned" dermatologists for my skin issues that no one could seem to diagnose, I was still miserable to the point that I stopped going out in public. The retinol and laser treatments they tried weren't doing much except literally burning my face and a hole in my wallet. A friend suggested her dermatologist at DermSurgery Associates, and although he wasn't accepting new patients, I was set up with Dr. Boulos, whose care was truly life-changing! She was friendly and thorough, and although she couldn't pin point my diagnosis either, she suggested different management plans to see which one would work for my skin. After almost a year of trying antibiotics, immunosuppressants, and vasoconstrictors, my skin finally settled on a topical triple cream. Dr. Boulos also does my skin screening (for any suspicious spots that might turn into cancer) when I visit. They have a remote compound pharmacy that's super easy to use for any of those special medications as well. If you're still struggling with derm issues, I recommend giving DermSurgery Associates a try. It felt like my doctor was trying to really get at the root of the problem and help me, rather than sell me expensive treatments :') They also do virtual visits as well in these crazy times~ So happy that my skin is back to how it was before residency-- people actually comment on how healthy my skin looks instead of pointing out how red or blemished it is! Those dark days are hopefully forever in the past, and now I get to enjoy checking out new restaurants and yelping!! :D Some of the downsides: the wait time can be long, parking at the building is not validated, and oftentimes if you call the staff at the front desk, they will forward you to someone's voicemail box. But small price if you get your problem treated right!
