You know how it feels when you're in need of AC repair and not sure where to go? Google search gives dozens of suggestions, many with fancy websites, a parking lot full of expensive work vans and uniformed workers, but how good are they, really? And what about cost? Those vans are expensive. :-) I feel I got very lucky finding Mr. Nguyen at Rich's. I used a map search and found the business address (as listed) was in my neighborhood, only a couple of blocks away. That was weird...but I had already gotten two estimates and was ready to try something different than the big stores that seemed to pride themselves on selling me things I didn't need, for prices I didn't appreciate. I texted the business number and Hung Nguyen replied, and offered to come by to troubleshoot my AC system the next day. Why the business is called Rich's AC I do not know, but I don't think anybody named Rich owns it or works there...I could be mistaken. Anyway, Hung stopped by as promised, spent a decent amount of time looking things over, and came to the conclusion my unit's compressor had gone bad - same diagnosis as other shops. The difference was this: His replacement price was $4K lower than my lowest estimate, AND it was using a Trane unit as a replacement (higher quality unit than other quotes). He also didn't charge me for the diagnostic visit (others charged $80-90). The biggest difference in price came from the fact he didn't automatically include a new furnace in my quote, because I don't need it. Every other shop quoted me a new furnace without ever checking furnace operation or asking me if I had a furnace issue. Air Integrity (ironic name) folded a new furnace cost into my quote, taking it well into the five figures, along with a "mandatory" service plan. This is what I was referring to early in this review...padding the bill to pay for company advertising and a fleet of vans isn't something I'm interested in supporting, local business or not. Hung told me he doesn't advertise; all of his business is through word of mouth. His prices were by far the best, he is highly skilled as a technician (as were the two workers he brought along on the day of installation), and just a friendly, humble guy who tries to do right by his customers. Last thing I want to mention is this: I obtained a 608 certification in the weeks leading up to my encounter with Hung Nguyen. This certification allows me to work on home AC units, and buy/use refrigerant legally. In short, this also gives me some strong background knowledge that I can use when deciding whether an AC tech/salesman is trying to sell me stuff I don't need. There was ZERO high pressure sales tactics used by Hung, which was the opposite of what happened when two other (much larger) companies sent techs to our house for a diagnosis/estimate visit. I'll use him again in a heartbeat, whenever the second AC unit goes belly up, or if the furnace he said will "probably last another 10-15 years" finally quits on us. Do yourself a favor, give this guy a call/text. He is still located in LC, but not at the address shown in Google (he confided he hasn't figured out how to convince Google his address has changed). Best of luck to you!

***** - 5 Star Review ***** Kevin came out to our home to diagnosis 2 water marks that appeared in the middle of a bedroom wall. Afterward, a thorough investigation, he determined the leaks were not from our AC but leaks from our roof. After repairing areas on our roof, there were no longer any marks on our walls. Kevin was right on the mark! He took his time and was not in a rush. He was/is very professional, knowledgeable and working with Kevin is a pleasure. We needed Kevin again for an AC problem. He diagnosed the problem and could have charged us for multiple parts. Instead, he offered to try one part to see if that would correct the problem. Unfortunately, we needed a circuit board. It was nice to deal with a service company that had their customer’s best interest. We will definitely call Rich’s Air Conditioning & Heating, whenever a problem arises.
