Dan and Jodie made my first tattoo experience amazing and comfortable. Jodie was very friendly and sent me text messages for reminders and answered all questions I had. Dan was extremely knowledgeable about the Polynesian culture and made me even more excited about my tattoo. He was super friendly, and did an amazing job on my tattoo. I’d recommend him to anyone, and I will definitely be coming back for another piece soon!
While Dan's work speaks for itself, his friendliness, professionalism, and passion for his craft deserve even more recognition. I'd been wanting my "compass" tattoo ever since I lived a year abroad in New Zealand in my early 20s, but could just never afford it while I was overseas just working to live. Fast-forward 13 years later, and I still had the itch to get my ink. This was my first tattoo, so it was well thought out and I looked for just the right artist for weeks. I found Nui Nui Customs after searching for the best Polynesian artist in DFW and found him in Dan. We sat down on a Saturday morning in December and designed my compass piece together, with Dan taking all my ideas and feedback and turning them into a one-of-a-kind piece. 7 hours, a couple bio breaks, and a few tacos later, and I was more than pleased with my first (but not last) tattoo. A couple months later, I came back to continue my vision, and Dan completely freehanded an amazing hammerhead shark. I had complete trust in him to "flow" with the design, and was not disappointed. So much so, that I'm returning in a month to add on to what was originally just supposed to be one tattoo, and is quickly turning into a much larger piece. :) Dan's knowledge of the culture and symbolism in all his patterns and designs is second to none. His studio is clean, intimate, and radiates Polynesian vibes with the music and decor, almost making you feel like you've been transported to somewhere in the South Pacific. You'll go in as a customer, but leave as a friend of Dan and Nui Nui Customs.
