MixHaus Gallery is one of my favorite spots in Comfort—every visit feels like stepping into a living, breathing canvas filled with stories. Right now, The Return: A West Texas Retrospective by Douglas Galloway is on display, and it absolutely captures that mix of rugged landscapes and deep-rooted memories. The encaustic, mixed-media pieces are both powerful and intimate.
The gallery itself—an intentional space for art and community—makes each visit feel meaningful. I love seeing how they bring in Texas artists and celebrate diverse creative approaches. The art, the setting, the care behind the exhibits… it all feels genuine, vibrant, and rooted in place.

I never miss an art exhibit at MixHaus Gallery! The fact that we have this level of contemporary art in Comfort, Texas is a real treasure. Whether you need original art for your home or office, it’s the best selection of Texas artists and mixed media art in the Hill Country region.
What a warm and welcoming experience. Incredible art with unique jewelry and art you won’t find anywhere else. Make sure to stop by while you’re in Comfort or make a special stop on your way to Fredericksburg .
