We have a 9 month old Border Collie mix, Finley, who was very reactive/aggressive to people and other animals and that was generally not very good at listening to commands in the same way our other dog was. We looked for trainers and found K9 Sensei. We weren’t able to have him stay for the full 14 days of board and train, but decided to get him started with an 8 day stretch. Rick was really thorough in asking what our concerns were and what they should work on while he was there, which gave us confidence to send him off. What a difference! He now walks great on a leash, is much more confident with people and other dogs (and far less reactive), and listens to both our pre-existing commands and the ones K9 Sensei added in! We were very happy with their training techniques and very much appreciated Rick and his family/team sending us updates on Finley during his stay and taking the time to show us how to continue his training at home after his stay. A bonus was also that we got to see videos and pictures of Finley throughout the time he was boarded, which really relieved a lot of the stress of not having him with us. We would definitely recommend K9 Sensei to others (and already have several times) for your training needs!
I recommended Rick to anyone who needs help with anything from obedience to having issues with reactivity. Rick helped my dog, Yoshi, build his confidence back up around dogs since he was attacked. Yoshi used to be fearful around other dogs but now he does very well with slow introductions as a result of training with Rick. We love training there! We even did the board and train when we were out of town and they took amazing care of my pup. The picture I attached is of Yoshi during his boarding.
First day training. Rick was great! He really helped us with our wild child Frank. He showed us simple commands, techniques, and when to praise our dog. Hard to believe how good Frank did with just a hour instruction with Rick. Looking forward to 2nd class.
