This is our second year as a client of Mr. Crabtree. We are more than pleased thus far with the level of detail and service we have been provided. We highly recommend his services to anyone who wants a serious CPA to handle their accounting and tax needs.
I have been a client for several years with no issues. However, this year I got a letter from the IRS, and there was a mistake on my taxes. It turned out to be the accountant's error, and it was a costly one. I met personally with him, and since it was their oversight, he graciously covered the expense. I appreciate that he had the integrity to do so because it was the right thing to do. I highly recommend him!
I started using him bc I was new In town and was referred to him by a friend. She is a accountant for a large law firm so I think they charge a lot, to do their extra work. Might have not been the exact right choice for me, since I'm a small job. I used him 2 times / one was for two years of taxes and one last year. I got my taxes done finally which is a plus... but I will say not the price or way I was expecting. Before I had only used a book keeper, and quick books certified tax person. Price was way better. In the end she actually had me owing way less money so not sure who did what right. I will be honest and say I am very unorganized and the first year I had a bunch or receipts and invoices, etc. I was told it would be $500 per year and this is me and my husband/ small biz and one w2. When I went to pay it was $1500 bc of all the adding of receipts. I was disappointed but I thought my fault bc I didn't ask enough questions or have my totals done. I used them again for last years taxes but it was actually done this year. Was told it would be $500 and was charged $750. I had my receipts added up this time . I called to make two changes one of which was Mysti a mistake. A large one. I have an Assisant that is $1200 a month , she had at 1200 a year. I am told They charge $290 a hour: and bc of those changes they had to charge me for a extra hour. Also I was dealing with the front desk person Mysti, the entire time, never saw paul once. She would even say paul needs to look this over, so I'm assuming she is doing all the work. I don't know what her credentials are but I don't see how having her enter them( totals done) and him reviewing it took 3 hours. I think the goal was to charge me enough to not make me return. That was accomplished. Also with having a biz, I literally had to say can I use this as a write off or that? And it's always only half or no u have the max instead of creating new categories or putting in a category that works. Sadly he doesn't seem very thorough and doesn't seem to work for me as a customer to get me the most deductions allowed. just a mass assembly line , to get them in and out. I will try another place next year, the place is clean and the furniture nice. It's inside and old bank and they are both nice. Just not used to the impersonal feeling I got, even when I tried to make small talk, they just seem annoyed 24/7. Maybe just the tax business. Either way I will Update my review next year after using someone new. I noticed all his other reviews are literally the same days so seems like he had friends write them.
