Since my first review, I did get a call from Allison, who apologized for dropping the ball on my 2023 taxes. I am updating this to reflect that she reached out to me and offered to make it right, and she has. It was a difficult time last year, with the catastrophic flooding in September 2024, from Hurricane Helene. Their office was flooded, and some records were ruined. The communication was lacking, and there was a discrepancy in the extensions I was told were filed for me but These are good folks, who just had a traumatic time. Mistakes happen. This is my truthful experience.

Just requested that Smith Manes withdraw from filing my 2023 taxes due to their incompetence. As much as I'd like to support local businesses, this is not the one! I've been a customer since they prepared my 2021 tax return.
After being told that they had filed an extension for me last year, and another extension in October 2024, because of the floods from Hurricane Helene, I found out from the IRS they had NOT filed any extensions! I was LIED to! In addition, they submitted the incorrect street number on my 2022 taxes. They have also been unreachable to my multiple voice messages and emails, for the past three months, trying to reach them about filing my 2023 return.
In this entire time, one lady answered the phone one day, look up my information, said she saw all the emails that I had sent, and that she hoped, I didn't get missed, that she would check and get back with me. That's been over a month and a half now, and I have still been calling to try to reach someone and leaving messages and emails. Very unprofessional, I will be reporting to the better business bureau. I would think that if somebody was handling your official, IRS taxes, that they would act in a more responsible manner. I'm very upset and I possibly owe money because they did not do the extensions, they told me they did.
