Five Rivers Pet Emergency Hospital provides emergency care with a personal touch. Staff and doctors, like Dr. Howell, are caring and keep pet owners informed. They take the time to explain everything, offering emotional support during difficult situations. The hospital is open late and is great to have nearby. Compassionate and gentle, the team does everything possible to help pets in distress. Recently, the hospital moved to curbside service only, which has made it harder for some families to be involved during treatment. While the staff treats pets nicely and shows kindness and patience, some clients feel the curbside system limits their ability to stay with their pets or be present during procedures. The hospital can be quite expensive, especially for emergency after-hours visits, but it remains a trusted place for urgent care. Despite some challenges, such as waiting outside in cold weather and restrictions on family involvement, the staff’s compassion and care, especially during difficult moments like euthanasia, are highly appreciated. The hospital also provides a private area for families to be with their pets for special moments and even offers Hershey’s kisses for a "last kiss."
My dog, Batley, required emergency care and arrived at the clinic in critical condition. The staff saw her through 3 difficult days, with an unwavering dedicated investment in her recovery. I was kept abreast of her condition throughout her stay, sometimes several times a day. She is home now, playing, happy... I'm truly grateful.🙂
While staying in Gatlinburg, our dog had a known cyst that ruptured and was bleeding. We found Five Rivers, called the number listed, and drove an hour to get to them. From the very beginning their process was seamless, as we were able to complete their intake form on line on our way there. Upon our arrival, we were greeted right away. Vet technician Megan came out to our car, gathered information, and did an assessment of our dog. They were very busy that afternoon, and we had to wait a while for her to be seen. Given that the reason we were there was terrible, the staff made the entire situation much easier for us. They were very informative, fast, and empathetic which we are very grateful for. I hope to never have to go back, but if my pets are needing care I would bring them here.
