I’m a retired Navy Vet. I went in to order my eye glasses. I was asked twice if I was a veteran, apparently because I’m a woman. Once by a hyper over eager “greater?” And again by a gruff woman in optometry. Asking a women who tries to use VA facilities if they’re veterans is disrespectful. A better approach is to ask to see an ID, or just treat them the same as a man who comes in for services.

I generally go here for an annual to stay in the system and for glasses. The doctors have been good, my problems are the lack of consistency, since 2016 as my primary care I have seen at least 4 or 5 different doctors during this time. My June appointment last year was canceled because the Dr changed to more Telehealth appointments. The only reason I found this out was because I went to a May Nashville Va appointment only to be told it had been canceled. The printout showed both appointments were canceled in December the year before, no heads up so I could reschedule for about the same time.
