I’ve been going to Specialists in Pain Management since 2014. I’ve seen Thomas, Dr. Blake, Jasmine, and Todd Stanford, and have nothing but good things to say about them ALL, but Todd goes above and beyond. What people sometimes don’t realize is they are bound to very strict guidelines set forth by the federal government, and sometimes get a bad rep for things that are beyond their control. Todd and his nurse listen. Their electric bp machine hates me, and even though they are slammed she always takes the time to check it manually. I get the latest appt available due to my job, and while I know they are tired, I am never rushed. Today, I told Todd my current meds were barely knocking the edge off. He’s been telling me for months I could benefit from an extended release so I’m not always chasing the pain, but my insurance company has been horrible to deal with. Seems as though they would rather me take 4 pills a day than one. Today, Todd being Todd spent 30 minutes calling pharmacies after spending 30 minutes with me to see who had the extended release in stock. He did so until 5:45. That’s dedication. I kept apologizing, and told them I know they were ready to go, and his nurse told me she had other things to do and it wasn’t a problem to make me feel better even though I didn’t believe that. I’ve never been to a doctors office that stayed until 6:00 to help me. He’s listened when I told him I worry about being addicted and has assured me there is a difference between dependence and addiction, and people with TRUE, chronic pain are less likely to become addicted, and don’t run out early. They CAN’T call it in sooner than 30 days, and even if they could, the pharmacies CAN’T fill them sooner than 30 days. My count has never been off, and I only have to go every 2 months. He’s funny, shares stories, and asks about other medical issues he knows I have going on. He calls me by my first name. My husband often goes with me and agrees that Todd is a stand up guy who is always smiling. Thank you for going above and beyond for me today on your own time! It will never be forgotten, and I owe you and your dedicated nurse lunch!
