I have had my horse Charlie here for three years. The barn is beautiful and really lets you escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Laura the barn manager is very attentive to the horses and gives Charlie all the supplements he needs even though it’s a lot of extra steps during feed time. Everyone at the barn is so kind and relaxed, really makes for a peaceful experience. The footing for riding is good, sometimes it gets a little deep but it goes right back to normal after a nice rain. We have jumps and dressage arena letters too for practice. Of the many farms and stables I have spent time working, taking lessons or boarding, Stono River is by far the most organized, peaceful, and caring environment I have experienced. Anyone in the Charleston area looking for a place for their horse to stay or board should reach out to Laura! Paddocks and stalls are perfectly sized and well maintained, amenities are perfect through every season, love it here!
A great farm with excellent care and many places to ride and train. The horses glow with dapples galore. Whether you trail ride, event or show there is little bit of it all at this historic farm. 8 years and counting for me. I believe it is the best place in Charleston for adults to ride and enjoy their horses.
