New England Shubukan is a world class dojo and a hidden gem for traditional Okinawan karate. It is not a run of the mill dojo, with deep roots and direct ties to the originators. The sensei is extremely knowledgeable, skilled, patient, and passionate, paying spectacular attention to detail. Students earn everything through top notch technique, where proper application is emphasized. The dojo offers a strong foundation for beginners and serious growth for experienced karate-ka, with mutual respect, zen vibes, and infectious spirit. It is a place for wellbeing, harmony, peace, and combat education where you get out what you put in.
A great dojo to learn traditional karate! Sensei Ken is very knowledgeable and patient! You definitely work up a sweat training in this Okinawan style! I recommend giving it a try!
the environment is very welcoming here at new England shubukan. i myself have been a student of sensei ken lyons for over a year and he has helped me buid up my self confidence when i felt i had none. being a student here has taught me valuable life saving techniques that i feel is important for self defense.
