“I scheduled my first appointment here with interest in trying Avulux lenses as I needed relief from frequent light-enduced headaches (specifically overhead florescent lighting competing with all day computer monitor use) and eye strain. Only a few practices in the entire region offer Avulux, so I'm thankful this office was so close to home. I was exhausted of dealing with multiple headaches per week of various pain levels. For weeks I considered possible lens options before calling to schedule my appointment; everything kept pointing me back towards Avulux and Massucci Vision Plus.

Blue light filter lenses are sold by endless online vendors, but I didn't want to trust my vision to an online purchase with no human interaction. RF-41 lenses seemed like they could be right for me, but as an artist and designer color accuracy is important so lenses that would heavily tint the color of my entire vision was a deal breaker. Avulux seemed expensive and relatively newer, but had rave reviews and clearly explained the science behind their technology. While I wouldn't consider that I have true migraines, I was desperate to reduce the frequency of debilitating headaches caused from florescent lighting at work, so cost was no barrier to me if the technology worked.

Dustin and Dr. Dolce were so kind and PATIENT with both my endless questions as a new lens wearer, and attempting multiple fits of different lens types (different progressive lens options vs single vision) over the span of a few months to find what worked best for ME. In addition to adding Avulux technology, they identified a few prescription elements to add to my lenses to correct vision problems and help reduce eye strain.

I'm astonished that my headaches have reduced from multiple per week to only TWO that I can recall in 4 MONTHS since receiving my new glasses...and neither of the two headaches were from light sensitivity. My eyes actually feel fresh at the end of the day, instead of noticeably tired even before lunch. Avulux does tint your vision ever so slightly, but I've actually come to prefer it - and, importantly, as an artist these have no impact whatsoever on my daily work.

Dr. Balouris did the cataract surgery on my left eye 6 years ago, and it has been functioning well.
