First nice weekend up here in Northeastern Pennsylvania (May 3rd), and with the COVID Pandemic - needed to get out and get some exercise. This is the D&H Rail-Trail. A non-profit organization manages 38 miles of trail from Simpson to the New York border. We started at the Information Center in Union Dale and walked South for 3+ miles to where the trail crosses under Rt 171 and back. Whew! The trail is well maintained and clean. You can walk, jog and bike. We saw many bikers. Thumbs up to the organization and their work in restoring these trails for public use.

From Rail-Trail Council of Northeastern Pennsylvania

The Rail-Trail Council of Northeastern Pennsylvania is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation begun in 1991 to attempt the purchase of local abandoned railbeds. It began as a very small grass-roots organization and now has over 1400 members and supporters. The Board meets monthly and the public is invited. A quarterly newsletter keeps members and local citizens informed of the progress of the organization and trail improvements. The RTC office is located trailside in Union Dale at 948 N. Main Street, next to Cables General Store. In its short history, the RTC has acquired 38 miles of the historic Delaware & Hudson railbed as well as 8 miles of the parallel O&W and is working to improve the 10 mile Endless Mountains Trail in Montrose.
