“We were looking for a tree service in the Bushkill/Stroudsburg/Pike County area. We stumbled upon Filo’s through a recommendation from a Saw Creek neighbor.When it comes to Phil from Filo’s, “tree service” is a somewhat of an understatement…..maybe, “Tree whisperer”? The definition of PROfessional. The top-notch quality of service is the reason I’m writing my first Google review — He’s just THAT good.As a certified arborist, Phil was incredibly knowledgable. We were just looking to find out what we needed to, or “should” do for house safety and overall tree health, versus what we “could” do. He told us all that and then some - we ended up learning a lot! Phil told us upfront he wouldn’t cut a tree down unless absolutely necessary.He walked our property and spotted everything from Gypsy moth damage, to previous bad cuts that had badly damaged trees, to inside rot evidenced by a conk (as we said, he taught us stuff!)We knew we had some trees that needed to be removed because they were dead and/or falling/fallen, but Phil identified some “hidden” issues that no one but a certified arborist would have seen.Another “tree service” came by previously and basically told us that they could/would take down whatever we told them to for $X dollars. (Ok. Ummm…. We needed a bit of guidance.)By contrast, Phil spent well over an hour giving us a detailed initial consult (not knowing that we would even hire him).He truly cares and was careful with other trees to protect them - we had a pretty complicated situation with a couple large trees hung up in another, and his main concern was taking care to ensure no harm to the tree holding them up as he cut the others down. It was amazing to watch and a testament to his craft.He was professional and honest; he recommended that for the tree health we wait until later in the year to prune the healthy trees instead of him doing it then (which others would likely have done anyway).He not only listened to, but invited questions and explained - a true teacher. “I made the best decision hiring Tom and his crew at Bender’s. I had a dead ash wood tree that needed to be removed and had the rest of the tree line pruned. They were prompt, professional, knowledgeable and thorough. They even piled up the ashwood logs for the fireplace! Will definitely work with them on future projects.

About 3 days later his men came out and finished the job in a timely manner. The were friendly, sympathic and kind. They cleaned up the mess and left.
