About Philadelphia Metro Wildlife Center

The Philadelphia Metro Wildlife Center (PMWC) is a dedicated place for the rescue and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wild animals. They provide immediate assistance and care to animals brought to them, with a focus on eventual release back into their natural habitat. The staff's response and concern are evident in their hands-on approach. PMWC has been described as an amazing place by those who have sought their help. The center's staff are knowledgeable, passionate, and go above and beyond to help animals, including staying late outside of operating hours. Overall, PMWC is a commendable establishment that demonstrates a deep commitment to the welfare of wildlife and the promotion of coexistence between humans and animals. The location may be small, and it can be a bit challenging to turn around and leave, but this is a minor inconvenience. The center is a blessing to all wildlife, and the staff is fantastic, knowledgeable, and friendly. They don't pressure visitors to donate, but many choose to do so to support the center's important work. The center is still old-school in its communication, relying on phone calls and paper forms, but this doesn't detract from the excellent service they provide.

I found a screech owl standing in the middle of the road during the day, so knew something was not right. I carefully picked it up, placed it in a box with a blanket inside, and brought it to Philly Metro Wildlife Center.

They ask that you donate $50 when you bring in an animal to help cover the cost of taking care of it, which I found to be a small ask. It's also not required at all, so donate what you can, whether it's more or less 💚

I was given a case number and was able to call a couple days later to check in on my owl friend. It's nice knowing that you can help an animal to either heal or help it to have an easier death than what was waiting for...read full review

Had multiple experiences w/ this facility and all of them great! The people that work there are super friendly & very responsive to the phone & walk ins! Most IMPORTANTLY they take ALL WILD BIRDS INCLUDING SPARROWS, & SEAGULS. My first time with them I found a tiny baby sparrow that fell out of the nest. We were unable to return the bird due to location of the nest, I drove to a few rescues that turned me away because they said Sparrows were not native birds so they wouldn't help! It doesnt matter if they came from England or not either way they didnt migrate here on there own! They were brought here by humans so it is our responsibility to care for them as well!
