About Johnstown Family Vision
Johnstown Family Vision is a place where staff is super with glasses selection. They have knowledge of different types of lenses and options available. There are a lot of options to choose from, with great designer frames. Doctors here are nice and explain what is going on with your eyes in an easily understood manner. Everyone is kind, patient, and helpful. They greet you with a big smile and make you feel like family. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, and the shop decorates beautifully for each holiday. Many customers get compliments on their new frames and report fast appointments. The front desk, contacts, opticians, and doctors are all kind and nice to work with. Customers recommend Johnstown Family Vision to family and friends after having poor experiences elsewhere.
I am not going to leave a terrible review based on a 1 time bad experience in almost 25 years of being their client. The doctors and anyone giving exams or helping you find frames have always been awesome. Here is my complaint. On Friday I get a text message telling me my glasses can be “picked up anytime” . So Monday I make a 20 minute trip specifically to pick up my glasses only to find out they are closed on Mondays. On Tuesday I go to get my glasses and let the receptionist know my frustration of them being closed Monday and I’m barely acknowledged.. similar to an eye roll. The other receptionist tells me that they have been closed on Mondays for 10 years. Honestly, my appointments are made when they are open so I didn’t know they closed on Mondays. I never paid attention to that considering the text messages. I made a suggestion that instead of telling customers to “stop over anytime” to pick up your glasses maybe in that same text just say “ closed Mondays”. All businesses I know are open on Monday. After 25 years of being a client I had no idea they were closed Mondays. I was just really disappointed in how the front desk handled a client for over 25 years. People on the front lines such as receptionists can help make or break a business. I followed up with a phone call to voice my disappointment. A much better response would have been, I’m sorry you traveled 25 minutes only to find out we were closed, we will consider adding that to our text messages. Also, I was in a hurry today. Doors were to be open at 12:35… 12:37 they opened.. my time is valuable! I had to meet someone at 1:00. I was 2 minutes late for my next appointment. Be mindful of peoples time as well. In 25 years, my experiences have always been positive… today’s was disappointing!
The employees were very kind and helpful. I hate picking out glasses, but they made it a seamless experience. They helped me in my selection of frames, and they were very knowledgeable in what lenses would best fit my lifestyle. My husband suddenly had a medical issue with his eyes and all I had to do was call them and they got him in right away. Doctor Stepp did a very thorough exam, and knew exactly what the problem was. He explained what we had to do and how long to expect it last. Never had an eye doctor make you feel like he was treating a family member. I guess they picked the right name for the business , Johnstown FAMILY VISION! I highly recommend them. Thanks for the great service! Patti
