Short and sweet. Shumake stands above their competitors. Whole home Generac has installed. By the time the other folks even got back to me, I had accepted the Shumake proposal and had my generator installed. Then, the icing…… both of the other companies sent estimates WAY higher than Shumake and wanted to change how I needed the project done. I’ll never look elsewhere for this type of work.
Shumake Electric installed my whole house generator in the fall of 2025. After researching both Kohler and Generac, I opted for Generac as the bettter option for me. George at Shumake went over all the details, and their pricing was inline with the other quotes I received. I choose Shumake Electric based on George’s excellent communication, great response time, reasonable installation lead time, favorable financing terms as an option, and I felt they would have the best response time on service needs that may come up in the future. Ashely in the office was also on top of everything and followed up with inspection dates and paperwork. On installation day (which was earlier than anticipated) it was a torrential downpour and they still did the installation. Brandon was the lead installer and he was extremely mindful putting down cardboard to keep the muck off the floors. He was professional, knowledgeable, kind, & answered my questions. If you are looking for a whole house generator I absolutely recommend Shumake Electric hands down! As a side note if you are also comparing the annual service costs for maintenance make sure to compare the details on what is actually being done on the visits. Shumake will replace items on the maintenance vs other companies that will not and that will cost you an extra service call and possible generator outages when you need it most. I waited to write this review a few months until the power went out to make sure things are working (even though it was tested and passed the inspection). Well the majority of city of Mentor-on-the-Lake is without power which happens often and I am happy to say my Generac generator installed by Shumake Electric is working perfectly.
We just yesterday had Shumake Electric install a GENERAC whole house generator. The crew was fantastic! Pleasant to have around, knowledgeable, skilled, and incredibly hard-working. They arrived at 7:30 am and finished at 6 pm....in the dark, working most of the day in 10 degree snowy weather. Never complained. They also cleaned up in all areas that they worked. It is reassuring that if there is a power outage, our house will be warm, we will have water, and all other electric related comforts. I would highly recommend Shumake Electric for GENERAC installation and all other electrical needs.
