Our family hired AR Homes, LLC to build our mountain cabin get away near Ohiopyle, PA. The build totaled some 1,700 SF and was completed in just five months. AR handled the entire project, from footers and floor slab, to framing, utilities, siding and roofing, to septic system installation. Tony, Bob, and their crew were amazing! They bring A LOT of practical building experience to the table, and were very patient when presented with varying opinions among our family group. At the cost estimating stage, they reviewed our cabin design and asked very insightful questions that led to some valuable tweaks of the layout. They provided a detailed cost estimate and provided backup for materials costs. Costs for extras and changes that inevitably happen along the way were discussed, agreed to, and carefully tracked, so there were no surprises at completion. Their construction philosophy is always quality first. They explained situations where an aspect of the build could be done differently/cheaper and why they do it the way they do. While they do the vast majority of the work themselves, those subcontractors that are used are carefully selected, scheduled, and monitored. They really cared about our project and treated it like they were building their own home. As a cost-savings effort, we wanted to DIY certain aspects of the project. They respected our wishes, provided valuable input and suggestions for us, and worked with us to mesh their work with our DIY schedule. When needed, they were very candid with their opinions of how certain things should be done. Their extensive building experience was especially evident at times when we encountered flaws in the design and were able to come up with perfect solutions “on the fly”.
