I’ve been taking banjo lessons from Tim Mackey at Tigard String Studio for two months. Tim clearly has the talent and professional expertise with multiple instruments. His knowledge and skill combined with his personalized teaching, encouragement and abundant patience make for a very positive learning experience. While I’m an absolute beginner, I’m making significant progress in a short amount of time due to Tim’s coaching. I am extremely appreciative of his instruction.

I've been taking mandolin lessons from Tim for about four months now and and he is just the best! He's incredibly knowledgeable and patient, he's taught me so much. Not only is he teaching me to play, but he is teaching the music theory as well. Taking lessons from him is a pleasure and I look forward to seeing my progress in the months to come.

Our 13 year old son has been taking lessons from Tim at his studio for a year now and has made steady progress in his guitar playing. We find Tim's teaching style to be well suited for our son and like the way that he is firm and holds him accountable for his practice but is also very encouraging at the same time. He respects Tim's expertise as a player and instructor and looks forward to his lesson every week. We would highly recommend Tim to anyone. The lessons have been very enriching to our son's life!
