We are soooo grateful to Ernie’s (and their man Dave) for the quick response when we were locked out of our truck at the Memaloose Rest Stop on I-84. We originally called a company in Hood River that never did show up. Ernie’s was on site in 30 minutes and had the door open in another 5. Fair price, too. Five stars.
David at Ernie's is quite a spectacular guy. He repaired my key tumblers and reprogrammed my keys on a 2006 Honda-- in less than an hour. The ignition key assembly usually give out after 150k ( one of the few Achilles heels of Honda he said-- believe me when it happens to you, you will be glad you have Ernies to help out) Ye old locksmith shop in Hood River said I had a 3 week wait ( which means I will never consider them again when you have a lock issue you cant wait) and I don't know how good they are since it was sold out to some young uns from the old owner who was excellent but no longer around. It takes many years to get this skill down. David, with almost 20 years experience ( He said Ernie sends him all over the country to learn all the new technologies)was really reasonable too considering what it would have cost to go to the dealer. Saved myself $100 by breaking free the sheer off bolts on the steering column myself and bringing the unit to him across from ZUM's but truthfully I'd probably better be off getting them to do it for me-- if it didn't mean getting my car towed 20 miles. By breaking it off my self I could bring in just the unit. It took two hours with chisels, Dremel tools and an impact driver plus having to remove no less than 10 harnesses and an assortment of screws. David was very professional and kind. People can feel safer knowing they have Ernie's as a resource in the Gorge. I write this totally as a satisfied customer and receive no compensation for my review.
We managed to lock ourselves out of our RV at the campsite on Father's Day. Ernie got to us within 30 minutes and had the door unlocked in about 10 seconds. Could not be happier with Ernie. We toasted Ernie many times during the rest of the camping trip. Highly recommend Ernie! Thank you Ernie!
