We took our English Golden Lab, Lilly, to the Strathroy Pet Valu today to use their dog wash station and had such a great experience.

Lilly will turn six on March 20 and came to us with some anxiety issues when we adopted her almost a year ago. On our first visit months ago things were a little chaotic, so we weren’t sure how today would go. The moment we walked in, Michelle greeted us warmly and immediately made both us and Lilly feel comfortable.

No anxiety, no barking — just a calm and welcoming experience. Michelle even spoiled Lilly with treats, which Lilly thought was pretty wonderful.

I brought my puppy into the Strathroy Pet Valu today (Jan 14, 2026) at about 10am. Upon entering the store we were greeted by the loveliest staff!! She inquired what we were coming in for, when I said for a bath she walked us back to the washbasin. She proceeded to give us 15-20 minutes of her time aiding me in training my puppy going up the stairs into the washbasin, was highly encouraging and sweet to my puppy!! Once we had the puppy in the washbasin the employee left though ensured to come back and check on us to make sure we were okay :) the staff checked us out upon completion and gave my puppy lots of loving and a couple treats. I think many people will agree it is becoming harder and harder to find great service especially in the retail industry.
Thankfully the Pet Valu in Strathroy has not forgotten how not only great but kind service works. I know that each time I go the young lady whom I believe is the manager is always friendly, kind and goes out of way to talk to all customers she is terrific! The staff is also very helpful and they always are ready to assist with their knowledge. I have had great experiences and I would like to share one of them. I had gathered my purchases and was at the cashier counter and was thinking in all confidence I had a certain amount of money in my envelope...read full review
