We had a masonry fireplace that we enjoyed for years, but it required a new chimney. Andrew at The Fireplace Stop had installed a modern wood stove at our cottage a few years ago. He and his team provided options to upgrade our home fireplace….. this was not a simple project as the fireplace did not allow us a lot of space and therefore, options. A new and very efficient insert was sourced (NSF - Canadian made). Because the old fireplace / mantle and hearth did not meet the new requirements for code, the hearth was enlarged, and a new non-combustible mantle added.
