We enrolled our dog Harley in the 4-week Minor Behavioral Battles board and train program after struggling with leash reactivity, confidence issues, and some challenging behaviors that had become very stressful to manage. To say we were nervous about sending her away is an understatement, but from day one, the team made us feel comfortable and confident that she was in the right hands.
What impressed us most was how thoughtful and individualized their approach was. They took the time to truly get to know Harley, understand her triggers, and work with the dog in front of them rather than applying a one-size-fits-all training plan. Throughout her stay, they provided detailed updates, photos, videos, and explanations of what they were seeing and why they were making certain training decisions.
The transformation we have seen has been incredible. Harley is more confident, more engaged with us, and far more capable of making good decisions in situations that previously overwhelmed her. Seeing her successfully work around other dogs, confidently navigate public environments, and demonstrate reliable recall off leash was something we never imagined possible just a few weeks ago.
Perhaps most importantly, the team didn't just train Harley. They taught us how to understand her behavior and continue the work at home. During our go-home session, they helped us see that many of Harley's reactions stem from nervousness rather than aggression and gave us practical tools and confidence to help her succeed in the environments where she struggles most.
It is obvious that everyone at K9 Ranch genuinely cares about the dogs in their program. They celebrated Harley's wins with us, were honest about challenges, and treated her like one of their own. We always felt that her well-being was their top priority.
If you have a reactive, anxious, or challenging dog and are wondering whether training can make a difference, our experience says yes. We are incredibly grateful to the entire team and would trust them with Harley again in a heartbeat. In fact, Harley will be returning for boarding in a few weeks, and for the first time ever, we can leave her knowing she is with people who truly understand her and want her to succeed.
