“I had suddenly lost partial sight in one eye - I contacted my sister who had been a patient at Hawkesbury Optometric Clinic and she was able to arrange an emergency appointment for me with Dr. Amber McIntosh. She and her colleague Dr Hazan saw me immediately and diagnosed my problem as a stroke in my eye. It was 4 PM - she tried to arrange an appointment for me at the Ottawa Eye Institute but they were shutting down for the day so she wrote a letter for me outlining my condition and suggested I arrive at the Eye Institute after hours to try to dig up an opthomologist there. It worked - I found a doctor who confirmed the diagnosis and within 48 hours I had had several tests at the Ottawa Hospital which indicated I was not in any immediate danger of a severe stroke. So this wonderful experience with the health care system was started by Dr McIntosh who accelerated my journey through the system and now 48 hours later leaves me releived and very grateful to the clinic - Thank you so much
