Scott and MaKenady Construction gave us the renovation experience of our dreams. He came to us through a referral, and I would refer him to anyone else in a heartbeat (and have just reached out to him to do some more work - this time in our kitchen). We did a significant basement renovation that included: a full bathroom, a kitchenette, a legal bedroom, a hidden playroom behind a custom swinging bookcase, a reading nook under the stairs, and a gas fireplace with custom shelving, as well as replacing and moving our furnace and hot water tank. Scott brought everything a great contractor should: he cared about our money as much (if not more) than we did; he kept his promises, showing up every day along with his crew; he has decades of experience and has a keen eye for detail; he has an amazing network of tradespeople who were all friendly, knowledgeable and did impeccable work; and he helped us navigate the difficult decisions in a way that allowed us to make the most of our money, without making us do it his way - ensuring we ended up with something that we are very excited about and works for our family.

Dream porch - Dream Team! Makenady Construction Services made our dream wrap around porch a reality! Scott and his entire team were amazing to work with from the very early stages of design, material selection to incredible attention to detail on the finishes. Living in a historic district required additional approvals. Scott and his entire team collaborated with the Town of Whitby and Heritage Planning to navigate design and material considerations. While in the construction and build phase there was constant and open communication on progress, challenges or decisions that required our attention. The level of transparency and engagement was incredible and we were kept well informed. The design and construction incorporated many custom elements such as french quarter natural gas lanterns, hand spun spindles & balusters and mix of natural and engineered materials. The level of craftsmanship was impressive and the attention to detail on the finishes make a lasting impression. The team was always very mindful of the job site and were diligent to leave the site clean each day. We couldn’t be happier with the entire Makenady team. Our wrap around porch compliments and enhances the historic neighbour and will be a centrepiece of the home for years to come. We liked their work so much we have already booked them for our basement renovation!

I may not have known it at the time, but when I first contacted Scott Guillot from MaKenady Construction Services Inc., this turned out to be a great phone call. I had a house fire that completely gutted my home with a legal basement apartment. For 2 years, the contractor that the insurance company hired left me hanging with a shingled roof that leaked, windows that where installed crooked and several failed inspections. Finally after 2 years, the insurance company allowed me to find my own general contractor, because nothing was getting done or was done wrong. Did I mention that I am also a senior citizen. After meeting Scott and his construction crew, he was quick to provide an estimate and promised that the work would get done and I could move back in 4 months. After everything I went through with the last contractor, I was very hesitant in trusting another contractor. Scott told me that MaKenady Construction Services Inc. was named after his daughter Makena and his son Kenady and that these names stood for commitment and reliability. Well Scott and his crew proved themselves right. Another good thing was that I never had to talk to anybody else about my home. If I had any problems or concerns, I would talk to Scott and he would take care of the problem. They completed the insulation, the drywall, the kitchens, the bathrooms, the heating, the air conditioner, the electrical, the stairs, etc. They took care of re-engaging with the city inspectors as they also had a negative experience with the other contractor. I wish I would have known about Scott before the house fire, because then I would have known that I had nothing to worry about and that I would be back home soon enough.
