Osterloh Guitar Academy (OGA) is a guitar learning center led by an experienced and passionate teacher named Travis. OGA is suitable for learners of all levels, including true beginners with no music background. Travis creates a comfortable and judgement-free learning environment, and he is known for his patience and wealth of knowledge. The academy offers a flexible online scheduling system for classes, allowing students to choose from various time slots and areas of instruction. Travis is proficient in metal/rock guitar but also teaches other genres, such as blues and southern rock. He helps students level up in technique, speed, music theory, and rhythm, ensuring lessons are enjoyable and beneficial. The group style settings for lessons foster a collaborative atmosphere, making it easy for students to learn and ask questions. Each class is well-categorized, providing something valuable regardless of skill level. In addition to regular lessons, Travis offers a wide range of workshops and events, making OGA a great community for guitar players. Students have found their experiences at OGA to be rewarding as they discard bad habits and deepen their understanding of the instrument. Overall, OGA provides an excellent learning experience, and it comes highly recommended for anyone looking to improve their guitar skills.
Learning from Travis has been nothing but a blissful journey of knowledge. From literally not knowing how to hold a pick correctly or set up a guitar, to now building my own tunes, chords, and rhythm, his classs has been incredible. It’s my favorite time of the week, and as the cherry on top, there’s Khloe, the cutest (not-so-little) and sweetest dog ever.
Travis has been extremely patient throughout this journey and has taught me things that you simply can’t find on YouTube, which used to be my main source of guitar education. I never want to discontinue the class, and I can’t wait to see how amazing and far this journey goes.
Travis really has it figured out. You cannot beat this guy's teaching style. He is friendly, sociable, and patient. He exhibits all of the qualities that one would want from an educator. His academy offers a robust curriculum; one that you can tell he has worked hard to perfect. And, included in your subscription is a comprehensive online platform to monitor your progress and get direct feedback.
Travis is a master of music theory and strives for you to be the same; not with an overly academic approach, but rather one that is enjoyable and digestible.

I’ve been taking lessons with Travis for around 6 months and it’s been very enjoyable. As you’ll find in other reviews, he’s incredibly patient and easy to work with, regardless of your skill level. I specifically searched for a teacher who would provide instruction and feedback on music theory for guitar, and that’s what these classes will give you access to.
The very first courses will lay the foundation for finding notes on the guitar neck (something that plenty of players have strategically avoided) and each subsequent level of classes will build upon that knowledge.
