I used to be super impressed with Dr. Ahern when I started seeing her back in 2014 or so. However, it went downhill. I was a little off put when she made a political comment out of nowhere during my exam around the 2016 election stating that she would have to go out of business if a certain presidential candidate was elected. I don’t care if people have differing political views than me, but I find it very unprofessional to state your political views to a patient. The dr herself is great, but the lab they use is absolutely ridiculous. I ordered my glasses on March 16th (mind you I paid out of pocket for mine, or i wouldnt have even bothered to travel back to urbana to pick them up as we moved to marion on april 1st and i thought my glasses would come in before we moved). Here we are on May 12th aand still dont have them. They called the lab and said it wouldnt get here till friday, but the office is closed on friday. I suggest working with a different lab from now on cuz it seems ridiculous to drive from marion to urbana for a pair of glasses but highly doubt i could get refunded. Dr. Ahern has been my optometrist since I was a child, her husband was my primary physician until he retired, and I can tell you that her and her staff have always been excellent. They have an excellent selection of frames, and have always been very generous with their time.
