I had a leak in my basement that my house sitter discovered while I was away. She called Woodstock Plumbing and Geoffrey came out, took a quick look and said there was a deteriorated pipe and a septic issue which was outside of his area of expertise. He called his friend Oscar Doane who specializes in septic problems and he came right over. Geoffrey went home and told my house sitter and me (by phone) that he charges $200. and hour which we agreed to. Oscar made two trips to my house, did all of the labor and repair for $350.00 total. I paid Oscar and then one month later received a bill from woodstock plumbing asking to be paid $549.00 for the service call AND the labor/repair When I called the company to explain that I already paid Oscar for the work he did and would send them a $200.check for Geoffrey's service call I was told that I owed them $549.00 for the one hour of Geoffrey's time, which according to my house sitter was only 20 minutes tops, because he didn't do any labor or repair and it only took him 3 minutes to see what the problem was. They are taking me to court over this.

One of my worst experiences with a plumber to date. I have (still) a leaking sink with yellow residue marks where the water drips in the basin. I called them up and he charged me $250 to replace a plastic washer, a service call, and half an hour of time, though maybe 15 minutes of it spent actually working… I could have been ok with this, but the next morning the sink was still dripping and the yellow mark still there. I called them, and they said “Well it wasn’t dripping when he left”, and refused to remedy. Called to have 2 faucets replaced. Was given a day they would be at my house (a Friday). They never showed up and they never called. That was a month ago, no word. We've used them before and they've done decent work. So I'd say they are competent, but very unreliable.
