    I used to go to this school in the late 90s/early 2000s (up until I got married and moved). Last week I was visiting “the old neighborhood” and was so happy to see the school is still there, and if it wasn’t because it wasn’t open yet, I would’ve gone in. Shihan Aschkar is up there as one of the greatest people I have ever known-an incredible mentor. If I still lived in the area, I would be there today, as would my children.

    I used to go to this Karate School when I was very young. Here I met wonderful, caring and professional people (friends) who guided me both in Karate and in life. After trying various Martial Arts Schools and in an effort to get back in shape, after 20 years; I've returned to this Karate School.I do not know the new instructors or many of the new students. I do know the head instructor (George). He is a traditional Karate-ka.Here kids and adults learn the basics of Martial Arts, life skill/ other essential values like discipline and respect.IF you are looking for grappling and hardcore fighting, this may NOT be the place for you.     Hands down the best in Shotokan karate in NYC, old school meets new school with emphasis on discipline, self-defense, and fighting class! A lot of fun and they're open 7 days a week
