Quite unhappy with RAND after our board hired them for a capital project. Their plans and specifications went out to bid after a long and thorough process, but were missing a couple of relevant items, resulting in costly change orders due before even beginning construction. The board felt that the contractor was in charge of the project after that, and not RAND as it should be. RAND services are quite expensive and are billed hourly once permits are approved, and they spent a lot of extra time because of the initial mistake. The board hired a third party Engineer to review the project and indeed found a few items that could be value engineered.
Their client service team strives to make very difficult topics easy to understand. Their engineers and architects are very professional and work to make the experience as easy for the client as possible.
The board of our building has worked with Rand for over 15 years on various capital improvements (I've been on the board for 10 years) including Local Law 11 facade inspections and repairs, and we always turn to them for plan reviews. We just finished a large multi-year repair project and I cannot say enough good things about them. The engineers we've worked with have been a pleasure to interact with and are very knowledgable and responsive. I highly recommend them.
