Couldnt recommend this place more! Shoutout to Oscar who was able to squeeze me in for a wash, cut, and style. He handled it so efficiently and professionally and it was probably one of the best haircuts of my life! No joke! I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he was awesome, will definitely be my new go to spot! Honestly, I dread cutting my hair and always leave it to until the last minute but it was such a great and swift experience. I went after work when I was feeling tired but this haircut was so good it lifted my spirits! Thank you again Oscar for the great service and cut, feeling this confident is priceless 🫶🏼
Permacut is my favorite salon. I have been going for years and always mean to post. Reena, a consummate professional, always discusses my cut with me before beginning, and after her expert wash, cut and blow dry, I feel rejuvenated (I can’t but help doing a quick hair flip to feel how light it is). My latest cut, a layered above the shoulder cut with bangs in the front, continues to get compliments weeks after my visit - I am so happy! Thank you, Reena!
Great place! Ask for Nelly, she's my stylist and a really good person. She does fantastic coloring on my curly hair (dark brown to blonde) and it looks perfect ever time. She's also got a great sense of humor, and is full of wise woman-to-woman advice. You won't find a better stylist in all of Manhattan or Brooklyn. Also, Reena, the owner, is the consummate professional, although I've never actually had my hair styled by her. Nonetheless, Reena's always at the ready with savvy oversight. The prices are really affordable, although that isn't why I go to Permacut. I go for Nelly. Added benefit for East Village residents; Nelly is a homegirl, so she knows "what time it is"; i.e., she does cutting edge "downtown" styling and coloring. Permacut isn't just a hair salon, it's also a human experience. All of the stylists are good people, and treat us and talk to us like human beings, with no uppity or snarky attitude. They're warm and personable and remember you. Which is why they have such a loyal clientele. I see that other reviewers gave 1 star. It may be true what they said about their negative experiences, however, I've only ever had excellent coloring experiences at Permacut. Plus, they get you in and out. If your appointment is for 4:00, Nelly is ready for you at 4, and done by 5:15. Having said that, I have very short hair. It could take longer for longer hair, depending on what you're having done.
