I grew up on the Lower East Side before it became "trendy" and all the local Hispanic owned tailor shops were priced out of the neighborhood due to gentrification. What used to be a thriving industry is now reduced to maybe three or four tailor shops. Of these, I found Express Tailor Shop to probably be the best. Speaking for myself, I've always been satisfied with their work and their prices are competitive. They can usually do simple jobs like hemming pants or whatnot the same day, often while you wait, which to me is a giant plus since I no longer live in the area. Much, I mean MUCH, better than Orchard Express, especially if the bald man at the front service desk is there. He often speaks to other tailors in Spanish and increases the price if he thinks you can afford it.

A friend brought me here having been a customer for a long time. I had two jobs done one of which they did while I waited. The prices were reasonable and I thought of bringing more items to be repaired. But when I was told by Jeni that prices had risen astronomically then I definitely had second thoughts as I could ill afford it. As there are dime a dozen tailors in the Lower East Side I could quite easily find a replacement.

WARNING! Very expensive!Prices have gone way up. Way up. But it’s still a quality spot for getting your suit tailored. I ended up paying more for the tailor than the suit, but it looks good.
