I cant believe I haven't reviewed M.A. / Tamara yet??! Especially since I found her on Yelp almost 10+ yrs ago?? Talk about full circle. I cannot recommend her highly enough! She has done my hair when I was still relaxing it, when I dyed it blue then emerald green lol, fancy updos for weddings / special occasions, when I went natural, for treatments and cute cuts and everything in between! She has always given me great advice on how to take care of my hair to keep it healthy and really knows whats what! I trust no one else!! lol (if i don't/cant go see her, I do my hair myself lol) she is thee one and worth every penny and then some!
Tamara is a fabulous hair stylist!!! She specializes in natural curly and kinky hair. She takes her time to explain the process and how to maintain healthy hair styles and growth. I've been a client for 10 years and counting!
Hair type: My hair type was kinky until my sixties. Now it's straighter and I miss my kinky curls. Tamara has helped me navigate this transition. She helped me create a style that gives me some curly texture. She also uses a natural hair color to cover my gray hair.
I recently had an amino acid treatment (Design Essentials STS Express Silk Press) with Tamara, and I'm updating my review to reiterate that she is THE expert in chemical services. Her salon is immaculately clean, comfortable, stocked with vetted professional products, and conveniently located. And considering the location and her skills, the services are fairly priced. This is my favorite salon experience in New York: old school vibes plus cutting-edge technique. I will be back!
