boris and arthur both give great cuts. they are professional, talented and personable. been going here for years -- always have a great experience. relaxed atmosphere and reasonable, too.
My experience at Boris was great. Walked in around noon on a weekday. Waited 2 minutes, and then Boris himself cut my hair. He cut it exactly how I wanted and I was in and out in 10 minutes. The cut cost $20 bucks which is well, worth it for a place in midtown Manhattan. I will most definitely return to Boris.
Ever since I abandoned my Brooklyn guy(s), I've been doing a "barber crawl" of Manhattan's best Bukharian barbershops. After my recent Friday evening visit, Boris' is in the running. I was 2 months into a nest of hair and Arthur (Boris' son) obliged. For a Manhattan-reasonable $15 I received a pretty solid trim. Arthur was friendly and attentive. Some of the older barbers can be a bit dour and weary, but he was frank and gregarious. There's a magazine rack full of full-fledged men's magazines that was an interesting throwback to the days of yore. And I'm not talking GQ. They've definitely built a refuge from the fairer sex here. The fact that Boris' shop is 3 blocks from by my office is a major plus. Chances are, I will be back. But the quest for the best Soviet-Jewish barbershop in 212...may continue.
