Recently had a Louis Vuitton Soufflot bag- monogram with vachetta- with serious water damage, and a strong perfume smell that somehow seemed to keep growing stronger over time. Cobbler Concierge replaced all the vachetta parts, and it looks amazing. It wouldn't pass as original- the saddle stitches are inconsistently angled in some spots, where LV's is typically perfect throughout; and the edging is different, although I suspect the Cobbler's will actually wear better over time, since it appears to be actually burnished, as opposed to just being covered up with some plasticky material that cracks or peels with wear. When my favorite McQueen bag's lining began to fall apart, I started researching where to get it repaired. My local shoe repair guy in MI who has performed wonders on my shoes and fixing minor issues with my bag, could not repair the lining. I called the McQueen store in NYC to ask if they could repair it but since I bought it at Saks they said no but gave me recommendations on who could help in NYC. As I happened to be in NYC the next month, I made a trip in person to Jim's Shoe Repair to get an estimate on the repair. Please note this was strictly a ballpark quote based on a quick eyeball of the lining. I returned home to MI to figure out what to do and ultimately decided to ship the bag to Jim's and about 1 1/2 months later, the lining has been repaired and I am extremely happy with the work. A few things to note. Once I sent in my bag, the shop did an evaluation of what needed to be repaired plus some other recommendations. I was emailed an "order" to review and confirm the recommended repairs. I did not need some of the extra repairs so I emailed back and requested an updated order less a few repairs. Once we agreed on what was to be repaired, the Cobbler Concierge sent me a shipping label. I ultimately used my FedEx account to ship my bag. I was pleased with the amount of communication between me and the Cobbler Concierge (both email/text). My bag was sent back to me in a nice big box, with a dust bag and also a reusable shopping bag. The ballpark quote I received in person at the store was not far off from the actual amount that I ended up paying for my repairs. I will definitely use Jim's for any future repairs for my designer bags.
I can't say enough great things about Jim's and the amazing people who work there! As someone who has an ever growing collection of high end designer shoes (that I wear extensively though the wretched streets of NYC) I struggled for years to find a cobbler who I could trust to not ruin my shoes (not to mention someone who could repair them to almost perfect original state). I would go as far as taking an extra suitcase full of shoes to Los Angeles when I would visit to my trusted cobbler there but that was getting to be beyond unsustainable. Then came Jim's! Jim's was referred to me by the lovely Gucci Soho store reps who I trust extensively - they told me that most of the high end designer stores, including Gucci, swear by Jim's and boy are they right to! I cannot articulate enough how consistently blown away I have been by their incredible craftsmanship, transparency, and attention to detail. They can solve and repair almost any shoe problem you may have! I super appreciate the time they take to go through your items in detail to discuss the issue, what you want, and provide you with transparent options and pricing (they are very honest about what can be done, what results you can expect, and the cost upfront). Their pricing isn't cheap but neither are they, additionally they are great at working with you to provide multiple options at variable prices. With that said I have never felt like their prices were unreasonable or unnecessarily marked up (they pricing is comparable to my trusted cobbler in LA). You absolutely get what you pay for with Jim's and that is unparalleled quality and customer service. I have taken in 15+ pairs of designer shoes and handbags to Jim's to repair, clean, adjust sizing, and protect and every item has come back exceeding all expectations! I am so happy I have found my forever shoe repair go-to and I walk way more comfortably in my (sometimes uncomfortable) heels knowing that they are protected and repaired by Jim's!
