I am so grateful to have Chroma for my curly hair cut and styling needs ever since Melissa first opened. Since my appointment yesterday I have been at a loss for words. I am so incredibly ecstatic with the results from my appointment and the experience I had. Melissa was so kind and caring with me. She made me feel like I was more than just a paycheck, I was a real person with thoughts, emotions, and opinions about my hair, salons, and the world. Growing up with curly hair has not been the joyous experience it should be. I’ve had a love/hate relationship with my hair for my whole life because I never knew how to care for it, and so called salon professionals never did either. They always wanted to cut it a basic straight across like other types of hair and blow it out, taking the curls away, so that it was a texture they knew how to work with. Instead of helping me learn about them and embrace and love them, I was told they are too much work. Going to the internet only made things worse as all the misinformation and influencer messages is overwhelming. Melissa worked with me, heard my distrust and communicated with me in a healthy, caring way so we could build trust together. She validated me and all I had been through this far. Not only did she explain what kind of hair I have (fine hair strands) but explained the science behind hair in general and how my hair operates. She discussed in great detail with me about cutting my hair and what would look best with my face shape, but still accommodating my wants. She gave me useful tools to empower me to care for my hair, with confidence! She recommended shampoo, conditioner, and styling products with quality ingredients to ensure me to have great results and healthy hair. She quite literally taught me how to use a diffuser. She answered any and all questions and was just the utmost professional but real person. By the end of it she even gave me life advice! It was an absolute pleasure meeting her as a person and learning so much from her. It was just an amazing experience all around! I truly feel my life has been changed. I can’t thank Melissa enough! And I am so happy with my hair 🧡
I had a wonderful experience with Scotia yesterday. She spent time talking about what bothered me and what I like about my hair. She gave me a beautiful cut and gave me some great simple tips for increasing volume with my curls. I’m so happy I made the appointment. It’s hard to see a new stylist, especially for us curly girls.
