I had an absolutely terrible experience with East End Expressions. I was planning a wedding from Alaska since that is where I am stationed for the Army. In the beginning Alice and her staff were very helpful planning from afar. Alice was able to do my trial over the December break while I was on Long Island. For the trial I showed Alice pictures of what I wanted, being in the Army I wear a neat bun everyday, and I wanted something low and messy for my wedding hairstyle. Alice, however, created a (very beautiful I will admit) high bun hairstyle (think 90s prom style). I left the shop with it. Then after talking to my sister and mom they told me that since it wasn't want I wanted, I needed to tell her. We were not able to schedule another trial due to our schedules, but she sent pictures and we had discussed what I wanted for a hairstyle. Over the course of our correspondence, Alice continually asked if I wanted to add air brush makeup for an additional $100 per girl. I do not wear a lot of make up and continually told her I was not interested in air brush since I wanted to look like me when I married my husband. It was extremely frustrating to tell her "no" every time we corresponded. Never did I waiver in my answer so I have no idea why she thought asking me over and over again would change my mind. Then the morning of my wedding, I once again told Alice I wanted a low messy bun. I will admit the internet is not great at my mother's house in Mattituck (where in Mattituck is it great) and my bridesmaid had to load the pictures in the kitchen and bring them into the den to show Alice. After looking at all of the pictures, she decided to use one of those "socks" in my hair. Before putting it in, I explicitly told her that since I used those for my everyday Army hair I was not comfortable with it for the wedding. But I was assured it would be what I wanted. I had the picture in my lap the entire time my hair was getting done, but she never consulted it. Once Alice finished, she asked one of her associates their thoughts, her exact words where "Oh that's the perfect bun"... the opposite of what I wanted. I was so upset there were no words. My Maid and Matron of Honor thankfully spoke up and got my hair redone. I was so upset at this point I cannot explain. Three of my bridesmaids had the same experiences, where they told the ladies the hairstyles they wanted and the hairstyle went the exact opposite direction. For example, one of the girls said "Please don't make it poofy" and she had a poof that would impress Snooky. Two other of my bridesmaids and my Mother-in-law had to redo their hair before the ceremony because it had fallen out. Then to top the whole experience off... when I gave Alice and her girls the remainder of the bill ($500 plus our tip) she looked at me and said "I guess that will do". I mean what the heck! I will never recommend this place to any of my friends for any event and wish I could go back and use a different company.
