After braiding my hair for couple decades at usually African hair braiding businesses, from Harlem to Queens I find that in ALL of them there’s room for improvements in attitude, cleanliness/odor of the business and sometimes persons, and in braiding. The customer simply has to decide which aspect of the business they’re going to be ok with. Basically it’s 6 of one and 1/2 dozen of the other. Not much differences between these businesses. Bottom line.

I asked for twists with my natural hair and they came out nicely. The sizing is a bit inconsistent because she did verify with me the size when she started but by the time she finished they were noticeably smaller. Next time I will ask for a bigger size. A tad unhygienic; the towel she used to dry my hair had colored hair on it. Being hopeful, it was just extension/braiding hair. I will be going back but next time maybe grease because only gel was added and my hair is stiff.
