I've been coming here for 14 years and my mother for the past 21 years. Both of us have always left happy with the result. Lystra knows us on a personal level as well as business and always knows exactly what we want whether it's just a trim or a fancy up 'do. Combined with the reasonable pricing, I can't ask for more. I don't know what I'll do if she retires because I refuse to go to another salon!

I went there with a friend for the first time today. I am sick of spending $60 for a simple short cut in Park Slope, or $15 to have my hair hacked to ugly bits in Flatbush. Lystra is an artist, and I can't imagine anyone thinking $25 is high. I did tip the shampooer $5, but that's the usual, if you care about working people. I have curly hair, and when I told Lystra what I wanted, she said right away "wash & wear, right?" YES, thank you! She stopped to discuss the areas near the ears and nape, where people can be particular. At the end she applied a little mousse and showed me how to bring out the curls with it. I love what she did and will be going with my friend once a month. Additionally, if you like ethnic color, the neighborhood is a plus, being primarily Trinidadian & Guyanese Indian. Picked up some take out that was super yummy. What more could you want?
