Exceptional Care, Compassion, and Understanding

We brought our cat to Cornell University Animal Hospital for an ophthalmic evaluation after discovering a cancerous growth around one of her eyes. She had initially been scheduled for surgery, but upon our arrival, she was carefully reevaluated by Dr. Emma Kobitter.

What impressed us most was the extraordinary amount of time and care Dr. Kobitter gave us. She spent approximately 30–45 minutes patiently explaining the risks, treatment options, and her recommendations. She made sure we fully understood the situation and what we might be facing, while also showing genuine empathy and concern for our cat.

We took our 7 month old puppy to be examined by Ophthalmogy and we left there totally impressed by the care and professionalism that we experienced. Unfortunately, our pup has multiple ocular abnormalities and is totally blind in one eye and only has limited light perception in the other. She was seen by multiple residents and doctors, and they spent time outlining our options. Never once did we feel rushed. They answered our many questions and made us feel like our little Osay was their most important patient. We are blessed to have such a wonderful facility. It was a little over 2.5 hours away, but worth every minute of the drive.

It is generally not a great day any time you end up in any kind of emergency room, but over the course of 13 years I have ended up here 5-6 times. It always seems expensive I don’t have the context to know how it compares. Nearly everyone I’ve come into contact with have been great both personally, and seem to have provided great care to my animals. My most recent visit for a cat with a laceration of the eyelid from a fight was really positive.
