I decided to give this salon a try since it's on my side of the Blvd just a few blocks down. I was quoted for a gel mani and regular pedi $52. Pedicure was your typical experience and so was the gel mani. Lady was quiet(ie: no conversation but that's not unusual for nail salons) although did answer her phone 2x briefly while doing my manicure. She filed my nails again after they gel mani was done which seemed odd. When it came time to pay she tells me $62 for the total which is $10 more than the initial price I was told. I pay it without questioning it over venmo which she said was (no taxes) but really is a way for them to not get a credit card fee taken out. As I'm paying I hand her cash tip. She holds it in her hand, proceeds to start to say something to me only to answer her cell phone again and keep me standing there while she talks on her phone waiting for what she was going to say. When she hangs up she says "can you give me more?" I was baffled, I've worked as a server and regardless of how little a tip is I've been given I NEVER questioned it or demanded more money. I felt I was already paying $62 $10 more than what she originally told me. So I didn't feel I then had to give a huge tip on top of it. I gave her 10%. I then handed her $2 more before saying "you know it's really rude to ask for more money you don't do that" I couldn't believe she had the nerve to ask for more money!!!! I was planning to go back but after this last part of keeping me waiting while you take a call only to ask me to tip you more is absurdly rude! So I will not be returning!

Every time I go here, Charlene just kills it. I used to go across the street to spring lily but my powder gel manicures never lasted over two weeks and I always felt like they were rushing through (not using a powder base). Charlene is just so diligent and detail oriented that it's worth the extra time to get a good result.
