We just had a deck built around our oval shaped pool by Blue Star Carpentry. Words cannot convey how happy we are with not only the finished product, but also the actual construction process and the pre-contract and design process spearheaded by the owner, Kevin. Kevin came to our house and gave us an estimate. We had four other deck builders/contractors also give us estimates. Kevin’s estimate was the second highest out of the five and we really wanted him to build our deck due to his knowledge and expertise in deck building, which was very evident when he came over. We spoke to Kevin about the estimate, made a few minor changes and Kevin’s estimate came down to what we wanted to spend. He also gave us key ideas which ultimately made a major difference in the end product, for instance, we only wanted 2 feet around the walking sections of the deck, but Kevin explained to us that 3 feet is much better because it gives you that extra walk around space. Well, when the deck was done we were so grateful to him that he, in a very polite way, pushed for the 3 feet. As far as the actual deck building, we have never seen a “team” like Blue Star Carpentry’s. We’ve had a dormer built and a family room built by reputable contractors, but Kevin and his company were by far the most skilled and professional. The entire team, each one of them, operated together as a well-oiled machine. They came two days before the original start date, of course after clearing that with us, and they were here for five straight days getting the job done. They showed up each morning, on time, and each man on the 5 – 7 man team worked every day, they worked very hard, and they each knew exactly what to do when. And the cleanup was amazing. Our yard was spotless without the tiniest bit of debris left behind. We didn’t find so much as an errant nail! The finished product is simply breath-taking. We knew we would be satisfied, but we are totally in awe and look in our yard daily in amazement at the incredibly beautiful project Kevin and his team produced for us. Yes, a lot of praise here, but it is in NO way exaggerated. Our yard is now a resort and an oasis and we look forward to enjoying it daily as the weather warms up.
