This Wednesday we had to put our beloved dog down. Her death was the result of a difficult year in which her health declined. Throughout this time, Dr. Cangro and Dr. Medema, treated her. They extended her life. We had the opportunity to share more time with her. When the time came for us to decide to end her life Dr. Medema calmly, professionally and compassionately guided us through this painful process.
We will always be grateful to our pet’s doctors and the staff at the Bellport Animal Hospital for helping us to keep our dog healthy in life and to provide a compassionate, humane and dignified death at the end.
My two dogs Pebbles (cockapoo) and Bambi (maltipoo) both now 15 years old have been under the care of Bellport Animal Hospital for almost their entire lives.
This past week Pebbles who suffers from heart issues went into congestive heart failure. She was treated by Dr. Glinka who took an X-ray, placed Pebbles on oxygen and treated her with four laxix injections over her half day stay there.
Frankly, she was having such difficulty breathing that I didn’t think she’d make it. Miraculously, she’s now home and stable.
Bambi suffers from renal issues and is injected with fluids under her skin by their technicians weekly. They are caring and always happy to see her.

I got home from being away on vacation and my dog was very ill after we thought he was acting different from me being way for an extended period of time.
He is a Presa canario which is a large mastiff that does not do vet visits well. Bellport Animal hospital scheduled him in immediately and he was able to see a doctor that day. After being on the medication he is 1000x better back to his old self and I am very grateful for the staff and Dr. cangro for taking care of us. Thank you guys again.
