“If you are looking for someone to transform your backyard into the backyard of your dreams, Topaz Design Group is your company. From our first meeting with Adam Sr. and Jr. we knew they would be the perfect fit for our project. Not only were they professional, knowledgeable, and honest, but they were extremely personable. We left our initial meeting feeling like if we moved forward with Topaz we would be in good hands, and they proved us right. The project we had Topaz do for us in 2023, was a total gut and redesign of our backyard. We ripped everything out starting from scratch which left nothing but dirt. When finished, we had an inground pool, patio, kitchen, fire pit, outdoor pavilion, new fences, and completely new landscaping. “I met the J&R team through a friend’s referral who told me that they liked their products and their services. To me this was still a blind venture, but I was determined to give them a try.

What I didn’t know at that moment was that I was engaging the entire J&R family, and I received what felt like ”royal treatment” from a company I had just met. I was totally blown away!

Now working with all three brothers who artistically orchestrate and manage what I saw as the magic of J&R, Mario’s direction unfolded into 6 of his able-bodied younger family members ripping out multiple old, overgrown, and in some cases, dead shrubs along with two Crepe Myrtles. They then followed his “measured” direction to carefully lay out and plant a wide variety of replacements. Each variety was placed according to measured and ground-painted perfection. Each spot was pre-drilled to specific depths to guarantee height and spacing alignment.

What became perfectly clear was that Mario was treating our flower beds like his own personal canvas and he was the master artist. Throughout the process I couldn’t help but laugh to myself as I watched this well-greased machine in action. What Mario didn’t realize was that while he was measuring and ground-painting every placement with the same level of meticulous attention and detail that I personally exercise in the way I do my own work. Truly a perfect match! His team moved about like the inner workings of a fine Swiss watch.

Above and beyond all the plantings, the team repaired and restored our dry stack stone retaining wall that was bulging out in front of our lawn, occasionally dropping out a stone and losing rain and sprinkler pushed soil through the spaces in the wall, creating an unsightly situation at the curb. They actually reshaped it, making it look like new. It just doesn’t get any better than that!

“Steven and his crew from Cutting Edge Tree and Landscaping did a fantastic job on removing a massive and ailing oak tree from my property and trimming the crown of another.  Steven’s crew was efficient and neat and worked especially hard to protect my neighbor’s property and the heirloom rhododendrons, azaleas and other plants on mine.  They were meticulous in their cleanup, leaving no sign of being here other than the trees that were removed!  They kept the noise of the removal to minimum as well, only starting their chipper periodically and only when needed.  (I have seen other tree trimmers in my neighborhood leaving their chippers running virtually all day!)  I interviewed and received estimates from six contractors before selecting Cutting Edge.  Steven made a fair and qualified proposal and demonstrated an extensive knowledge of trees and landscaping. He even added the free removal of a five-foot high unsightly tree stump left by another tree company a year or two ago.  Thank you for the job well done!“
