About Computer Answers
Computer Answers, a local computer repair shop in Albany, has earned a reputation for its exceptional customer service and technical expertise. The business focuses on understanding the unique needs and concerns of each client, ensuring they receive the perfect solution for their computer, laptop, or tablet issues. As the company's very first location, Computer Answers has learned the importance of listening to its customers and delivering tailored services. Whether it's hardware or software problems, data recovery, water damage motherboard recovery, or business IT support, the knowledgeable and friendly staff are committed to providing a free diagnosis and estimate. Customers have praised the small shop's personalized approach, stating that it is "totally worth it compared to the big computer stores around." The staff is described as both friendly and knowledgeable, helping clients find the right new or used product to meet their needs. One customer, who had spilled water on their 2012 Dell laptop, shared a particularly positive experience. After the Geek Squad refused to even look at the older device, the customer reached out to Computer Answers. The staff, led by an employee named Jake, was able to recover the data and successfully repair the laptop, even upgrading it to Windows 10. The customer was thrilled to have their laptop working again, saving them from the expense of buying a new one. However, it's important to note that one customer reported a concerning incident of potential data breach after their computer was serviced at the shop. While the company maintains that they only transfer data and do not access it, the customer experienced fraudulent activity on their bank account shortly after the repair. This serves as a reminder to exercise caution when entrusting any computer repair service with sensitive information. Overall, Computer Answers has established itself as a reliable and customer-focused computer repair shop in the Albany area, offering a range of services and solutions to meet the diverse needs of its clients.
Small computer repair shop, but totally worth it compared to the bog computer stores around. Friendly and knowledgeable staff who help you get either new or used product for your needs.
I spilled water on my 2012 Dell laptop and it died. The Geek Squad told me to come to Albany and when I did, they wouldn't even look at it because of how old it was. They told me to find a small repair shop to help. Enter Computer Answers. I called the store and spoke with Jake, who told me to bring my laptop right in. He said he would at least be able to recover the data for me so it could be transferred to a new computer. I really didn't want to buy a new laptop because mine has a lot of features they don't put in laptops these days (like a DVD/CD player). Jake called me later that night and said he would be able to fix it, gave me a price, and said he could upgrade...read full review
Jake called me later that night and said he would be able to fix it, gave me a price, and said he could upgrade me to Windows 10 (I had 7). I thought the price was great and gave him the go-ahead. He had it fixed within a few days and it works great! He gave me a new keyboard, mother board, memory, etc., and offered me a new mouse because he wasn't sure about the touch pad. I've got all my data, my laptop is working perfectly and even the touch pad is working now. I'm so grateful to Jake and his hard work! He saved me at least $800 on a new Dell that would have had minimal features. Highly recommend this place! Thanks, Jake!! UPDATE: Had my computer fixed by them and suddenly had a data breech where someone tried to steal money from one of my bank accounts. Called them because it was the only time the computer was out of my possession and they told me they don't see the data, only transfer it. Luckily, my bank and I caught the transactions before they went through (It was labelled Green Dot) but I had to close the account and go through the hassle of opening another. Don't want to suspect this company but it seems very suspicious that this happened right after they had my computer in their shop. Beware if you get your computer fixed from ANY company and it has confidential information on it, check your accounts and watch for fraudulent activity!!
