Oh, my, goodness! What an amazing place to experience. My partner and I are from North Carolina, and I was looking for something unique and different to do for our honeymoon. Painted Bar Stables is such that. We did the sunset walking tour; met several of the horses, watched the sunset over the gorgeous farm, had a small fire with some hot cocoa, and they even brought marshmallows! We will forever remember this memorable experience.
Painted Bar is probably the best overall horse experience I have come across yet, & I have ridden in Ireland, Scotland, across the US, as well as Iceland. I wish they were not 4.5 hours away! If they were even within 2 hours they would be my local/regular barn.
The knowledge they have & that they impart to their clients, as well as the care they take with their horses, is unparalleled. I love the active learning that accompanies everything I have done with them, both on and off the horse. The way they treat people is also another big factor for me, as just because people are good with horses doesn't always mean that they are respectful of the humans.... read full review
My husband and I visited Watkin's Glenn on our mini-moon. I'm a life long equestrian, he is comfortable around horses on the ground, but has only ridden a handful of times. We both had wonderful, suitable mounts. Instruction was clear and concise, horses were well cared for and responsive. We were lucky enough to be the only guests on that ride, escorted by the owner. The trails were beautiful, fields, woods, hills, streams.
I hope to return one day.
